England’s Mark Wood has marked his return to the English team with a five-wicket haul against Australia in the third Ashes Test at Headingley on Thursday.
Wood — who was not included in the first two Tests' playing 11 — caused all the havoc for the Australian batters with his constant 150kmph+ deliveries.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Wood’s staggering comeback
Wood also removed Australian opener Usman Khawaja with a ripper as the left-handed batter stood helpless against the sheer pace of the seamer.
He ended his spell with five wickets in 11.4 overs for just 35 runs, while also bowling four maiden overs.
Australia currently lead the series by 2-0 having won the first two Tests at Edgbaston and Lord’s.
Australian skipper Pat Cummins guided his team to narrow victory in the first Test as the Aussies were 54 runs short to the target with just two wickets in hand when Cummins walked in to bat. The right-handed pulled off a stunning contest by scoring a match-winning knock of 44 runs.
In the second Test, Ben Stokes’ 155 in the second innings while chasing 371 were wasted in vain as the Aussies clinched the victory by 43 runs at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
